Why are you asking questions on my gender identity and sexuality?

The Bondi Memorial is a unique project with distinct identities:

      1. It is a permanent public artwork
      2. It is located in Marks Park, Tamarama, on the Bondi Coastal Walk
      3. It acknowledges the victims and survivors of recent homophobic and transphobic hate crime.

Waverley Council in partnership with ACON seeks to ensure that all those with an interest in the project are having their say on the preferred design. This includes those with an interest in public art, those with an interest in the local area and its amenities, and those with an interest in the memorialisation of victims and survivors of homophobic and transphobic hate crime. Asking these questions will help identify whether this call out for community consultation for the artwork has reached those in the community with various project interests.

More information on the inclusion of these questions is available here: transhub.org.au/allies/researchers

This information will be de-identified and shared to ACON, Councillors, and Council staff working on the project. The data may also be used in general for public statements, such as confirming we have reached a certain number of groups, or that a certain percentage of respondents from groups was reached.

Your responses to all survey questions will be emailed to you, this is the only time these questions will be identified as from you, and only you will access them. Council staff will only access these upon request from yourself, in the event you request any changes to your responses during the consultation period. If you wish to do so, please email libby.mackenzie@waverley.nsw.gov.au. No changes will able to be made following the consultation period, as the results will be de-identified and then deleted.

Council has ensured we have followed the requirements set by the Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (PPIP Act).
