Talk to us

Whatever your connection to Waverley, we want to have genuine discussions about what you think makes this a resilient, vibrant and liveable place for everyone.

We want to hear your ideas and feedback on the key issues that are important to you. By participating, you can help Council make decisions that achieve the best outcomes for our community. We will listen to you, consider your feedback and report back on how community input contributed to Council decisions.

In 2018 we undertook an extensive community engagement program to inform our Community Strategic Plan 2019-2029. You told us that you want more opportunities to have your say and to access the information you need to participate meaningfully. To help us achieve this, we are reviewing our Community Engagement Policy and Strategy.

Community Engagement Policy and Strategy Review

The purpose of this review is to make sure the Policy and Strategy align with best practice and your expectations of Council. To make sure we get this right, we want to hear your thoughts on how we can engage you on the matters that are of interest to you. Tell us what we are doing right and what we can improve upon.

The Policy

The Policy will provide a framework for Council’s community engagement activities. It will include a statement of commitment and a set of values and principles to guide our approach.

The Strategy

The Strategy will guide Council in determining the level of engagement that is appropriate to each project or initiative and the methods we will use to engage our diverse community. It will also set out how we will communicate opportunities to have your say and the outcomes of engagement activities.

Have your say

Community consultation for this project has concluded. We invited community members to share their thoughts in the following ways;

  • Online and hard copy survey
  • Online ideas generator to brainstorm how we can engage in an inclusive and accessible way
  • Email or hard copy submission
  • Pop-up stalls and intercept surveys
  • Mayor's Community Organisation Breakfast and workshop

A community engagement summary will be published on this page once compiled.

  • Community Participation Plan for Local Planning

Due to recent changes to the EP&A Act, Council must develop and adopt a Community Participation Plan (CPP) by December 2019. The Plan will clarify the role of community participation in local planning matters. It will do this by outlining how and when Council will involve the community and receive input across various planning processes and decisions.

The draft CPP will be on public exhibition from 18 September to 18 October 2019. You can view the draft Plan and make comment here.

The CPP will form part of Council’s suit of Community Engagement documents.
