What is the proposal?

Residents have contacted Council with concerns about the lack of available parking in Simpson Street. Some residents have requested that the recently installed Resident Parking Scheme (RPS) restrictions be extended, and others have requested that the RPS restrictions be removed. In response, Council is reviewing the parking arrangements in Simpson Street, with options to:

  • extend the two hour parking restrictions
  • reduce the two hour parking restrictions
  • leave the two hour parking restrictions in their current location.

What is a Residential Parking Scheme (RPS)?

Council operates a Residential Parking Scheme (RPS) so that residents can park near their homes. It gives preference to residents who live in streets where competition for parking spaces can be intense by providing them with the opportunity to purchase parking permits. These permits mean that you can park for as long as you like in a space in that area while visitors can only park for a limited time.

How can I have my say?

We would like to hear from you about the proposal by completing the online survey below. If you live in the streets affected, you should also have received a hard copy survey in the mail.

The survey will close at COB on Friday, 19 September 2014

Please note that even though you may have signed a petition or made representation to a Councillor, we advise that you still complete this survey to ensure your feedback is formally captured.

What are the next steps?

The survey results will be reviewed by the Waverley Traffic Committee, which is made up of representatives from Council, Roads and Maritime Services and NSW Police. The Committee will then make a recommendation to Council as to whether the parking restrictions should be changed or not, which Council will consider (along with the survey results) before making a final decision. It is anticipated that a decision will be made in November 2014.

In the event there is support for changes to parking restrictions, and it is approved by Council, residents would be advised before the introduction of the changes.
