Waverley Council has opened a new chapter on Bondi Pavilion. The new Bondi Pavilion Stakeholder Committee will help shape the future refurbishment and upgrade of the Bondi Pavilion community and cultural centre.
The committee will consist of up to 12 members as follows:
- Up to 7 community members, chosen by Council following an Expression of Interest process
- 1 nominee of Friends of Bondi Pavilion
- 1 nominee of Bondi Beach Precinct
- 3 Bondi Ward Councillors
The initial phase of the committee will be to work on a matrix of recommended and desired uses and functions for Bondi Pavilion. The committee will need to finalise its report by late January, so that Councillors can consider the report at meetings in early February 2018.
The committee will be chaired by the Mayor and Deputy Mayor as alternate chairs, and the work of the Committee will be supported by Council staff.
After this initial November–January phase, the Stakeholder Committee will then reconvene to consider future cultural and arts programming for Bondi Pavilion.
Time commitment
Committee members will be appointed at the 21 November Council meeting. It’s expected that there will be meetings on:
- Saturday 25 November, 10am – 2pm
- Saturday 2 December, 10am – 2pm
- Saturday 9 December, 10am – 2pm
Lunch will be provided. Further meetings may be required as decided by the committee.

Expressions of interest must be received by 5pm Wednesday 8 November 2017.
A panel of the Mayor, Deputy Mayor and Acting General Manager will consider the expressions of interest and make a recommendation to the Council for endorsement. Councillors will then consider the recommendation and finalise the committee membership at the 21 November Council meeting. A more detailed Stakeholder Committee Terms of Reference will also be considered at that meeting.
