Thank you to everyone who has shown continued interest in Councils plans for improvements to Clarke Reserve. In 2018 Waverley Council allocated $150,000 for the design and construction of an upgrade to the Clarke Reserve Park and playground. These plans were approved in consultation with the community. Refer to the April Concept Plans attached to the right of the screen for the approved works.

In February 2019, Council received funding from the NSW Governments through the Stronger Communities Fund for a value of $100,000 to contribute to the playground at Clarke Reserve. This money will allow us to provide further upgrades to the playground to what Council had previously planned and funded in 2018.

Improvements recommended for this additional funding

In addition to the upgrades included in the plans developed through consultation with the community last year, Council planned to utilise the grant funding for further works to improve safety and play experience. These additional works will be open to feedback from the community before being finalised.

Taking into consideration previous consultation in 2018, with 68 survey responses and submissions received, as well as expert advice, Council recommends the additional funding be spent on:

• Replacement of existing worn rubber softfall surface which has reached the end of its useful life and edging which has separated from the rubber surface.
• Supply and install of new play equipment (in addition to the slide and multipurpose climber already included in the plans) such as a spinner, seesaw or sensory/ music play suitable for toddler play which was requested during consultation.
• Installation of a drinking fountain with dog drinking bowl, alongside of the path at the entrance of the reserve.
• Shade tree planting (in addition to the seven new trees already included in the plans).
