Councillors are entitled to reasonable and appropriate reimbursement of expenses and the provision of facilities to help them undertake their role. Council is required to develop a policy to ensure accountability and transparency as well as to align Councillor expenses and facilities with community expectations.

At a Council meeting on 20 March 2018 Council adopted a new draft Councillor Expenses and Facilities Policy for public exhibition. The draft policy is based on the Office of Local Government Guidelines and members of the public are now invited to comment and provide feedback on the policy and the proposed resources to assist Councillors undertake their civic duties.
