Project Update - July 2025
At the Strategic Planning and Development Committee on 1 July 2025, there was a decision that Council:
- Retains two-way traffic in Diamond Bay Road, Craig Avenue, and Isabel Avenue, Vaucluse, as the introduction of a one-way traffic route:
- Does not have clear support from local residents.
- Would lead to higher vehicle speeds and safety concerns
- May affect driver expectations and cause compliance issues with the one-way direction
- Would lead to increased travel distance for residents.
- Does not pursue the following alternative option at this time:
- Shifting the kerb line.
- Shifting the kerb line.
- Investigates improvements to traffic flow through travelway widening and/or passing bays.
- Continues to monitor transport conditions in the area.
Project Background
Council is seeking feedback regarding the Diamond Bay Road, Craig Avenue, and Isabel Avenue traffic route.
The information you provide will also help Council understand the preferences of residents and form part of a preliminary analysis of how we can better manage traffic if a one-way road system is introduced. (See below diagram).
Resident feedback will be considered alongside further technical work. Approval would also be required from the Council and Transport for NSW for any change to be implemented.
