Waverley Council invites authors, academics, literary critics, and book industry professionals to submit an Expression Of Interest (EOI) to join the Mark & Evette Moran Nib Literary Award Judging Panel for a three-year tenure covering the 2024, 2025 and 2026 award programs. The annual judging cycle typically spans from late April until October. Judging positions are rotated annually as a new judge is appointed each year.

The incoming judge will join the established judging panel to determine which of the year’s incoming nominations best fulfill the Nib Award's specific criteria.

The Mark & Evette Moran Nib Literary Award is Waverley Council’s annual celebration of the best in Australian research-based literature. Established in 2002 as The Waverley Library Award for Literature, it remains the only award of its kind presented by a local government authority. The award is made possible through the generous support of Principal Sponsors Mark & Evette Moran.

The Mark & Evette Moran Nib Literary Award offers a total of over $50,000 prize money, including a $40,000 major prize.

For further details, including Judges’ honorarium, please see the document listed under the heading More information, on the right of this page.
