Draft Public Art Policy - for community feedback
January – February 2014

Key Q&As

Why revise the Public Art Policy?

Waverley Council's existing Public Art Policy, adopted in 1999, is due for review to reflect current trends in public art, and to place the policy in the context of the current Waverley LGA and align it with Waverley's community vision.

Background

In July 2013, community members of the Waverley Public Art Committee along with Councillors and staff formed a Public Art Policy Working Group which developed a draft new Public Art Policy. Waverley Council has considered the draft policy and is now inviting community feedback before making a final decision.

What are we hoping to achieve?

We're encouraging residents and community groups to read and comment on the draft policy to ensure the Policy is a reflection of the direction the community wants for public art. The draft Policy proposes that Waverley Council will increase the number of public art works in the Waverley area, and encourage the inclusion of public art in private developments. The draft Policy also proposes an engaging public art program that responds to place, aspires to international excellence, and is a source of pride for the local community.

How can I comment?

You're invited to read the draft Policy and provide feedback prior to Council finalising the document. Click here to download the Draft Public Art Policy.
