Consultation report

From 6 May to 3 June 2020, Council held an open community consultation on the proposed concept design for the Bronte Surf Club and Community Facilities upgrade. This was the second phase of consultation, the first was in 2019.

The report highlighted 10 key issues raised from the results of the consultation:

  • The surf club building is too big
  • The footprint of two buildings in park
  • Noise issues from a bigger building / acoustics into residential areas
  • Relocation of Dave Brown Place
  • Loss of green space and public open space
  • Accessibility
  • Privatisation of public space
  • Excessive height and loss of views
  • Impact of increased visitors on site, including parking concerns
  • Reasons behind concept design development and use of space.
