Further develop an option

26 March 2020

On 3 March, Waverley Councillors endorsed Council Officers to further develop an option presented by Architects CHROFI.

As the most viable option it was presented to Councillors where it was decided to progress based on stage 1 community consultation and ongoing stakeholder feedback.

Advantages of the preferred option include:

  • good location for lifeguard tower, with direct beach access, aligning with key public feedback
  • ideal location for administration and Surf Club patrol
  • breaks building envelope down into separate and smaller components
  • opens up views from the gully and parts of the park
  • extends lawn space
  • potential for a partial green roof to the northern building for improved visual amenity from the upper park level
  • maximises sunlight and ventilation
  • provides separation between service, maintenance, emergency vehicles and major public pathways (promenade and park)
  • allows for staged construction.

Once the concept design is developed further, the Bronte Surf Club and Community Facilities Upgrade will go out for stage 2 community consultation to help inform the final design.
