Alt Lane traffic calming

Council has received requests to improve traffic and road safety in Alt Lane. This is in response to residents advising of through traffic and speeding along Alt Lane.

A recent traffic count showed an 85th percentile speed of 31.9 km/h which is considered high for a narrow laneway.

We are asking for feedback on proposed traffic calming devices for Alt Lane (see Figure 1) to improve traffic and road safety.

These include:

  1. An introduction of a 10 km/h shared zone (see Figure 2).
  2. A continuous footpath treatment at Alt Lane north of Cuthbert Street (see Figure 2).
  3. The installation of speed bumps (see Figure 3 and 4).
