We are seeking your opinion on changing parking restrictions in Warners Avenue, Bondi Beach, outside 100 Glenayre Avenue.

Council has received requests that 14 metres of the 2-hour parking zone are converted to a 15-minute parking zone. The 15-minute parking zone would apply from 8am—12noon. Parking from 12noon—10pm would remain as 2-hour parking, residents excepted. As follows:

The intent of implementing the 15-minute parking zone would be to increase turnover to support local businesses.

Please note: It is not within the scope of this proposal that the pedestrian coastal walk itself become one-way.

We are seeking your feedback on the proposed scheme as follows:

    • an alternative pedestrian route between Bondi and Tamarama Beach via Gaerloch Avenue, Alexander Street, and Sandridge Street. This will be supported with signage and pedestrian crossing points
    • a permanent one-way road system for Gaerloch Avenue and Dellview Street (the same system that is temporarily put in place during Sculpture by the Sea)

This is part of Council's work in investigating ways to manage overcrowding around the Bondi to Bronte Coastal Walk.

More detail on the proposed treatments is available here.

  • Bayview Street, Bronte — traffic and parking improvements along the cul-de-sac

    02 Mar 2021
    CLOSED: This consultation has concluded.

Council officers have been assessing safety, parking and traffic congestion issues along Bronte Beach, and particularly Bayview Street. After our assessment, we have found an opportunity for some improvements, as follows:

    1. Extend the existing 'No Stopping' restriction that is between the driveway across properties 29 & 27 easterly for an extra five metres (about 1 car parking space).
    2. Shorten the 'No Parking' restriction around the bend of the cul-de-sac on the park side to allow 15 metres of extra space for unrestricted parking.
    3. Change the 'No Through Road' sign to an orange fluorescent colour enabling better visibility for motorists.
    4. Installing a 'No Stopping (R)' sign at the light pole in front of property 11, which would disallow vehicles parking in the corner of the intersection.
    5. Utilise the space in front of the median island at the intersection of Bayview Street and Bronte Marine Drive to serve as a 'Pick Up/Drop Off' zone for two vehicles.
    6. Relocate the existing 'One Way' sign at the intersection to reinforce the no through road advisory message for motorists.
