Bayview Street, Bronte — traffic and parking improvements along the cul-de-sac

5 February 2021

Council officers have been assessing safety, parking and traffic congestion issues along Bronte Beach, and particularly Bayview Street. After our assessment, we have found an opportunity for some improvements, as follows:

  1. Extend the existing 'No Stopping' restriction that is between the driveway across properties 29 & 27 easterly for an extra five metres (about 1 car parking space).
  2. Shorten the 'No Parking' restriction around the bend of the cul-de-sac on the park side to allow 15 metres of extra space for unrestricted parking.
  3. Change the 'No Through Road' sign to an orange fluorescent colour enabling better visibility for motorists.
  4. Installing a 'No Stopping (R)' sign at the light pole in front of property 11, which would disallow vehicles parking in the corner of the intersection.
  5. Utilise the space in front of the median island at the intersection of Bayview Street and Bronte Marine Drive to serve as a 'Pick Up/Drop Off' zone for two vehicles.
  6. Relocate the existing 'One Way' sign at the intersection to reinforce the no through road advisory message for motorists.
