Waverley Council is working with the community, the NSW Government Architect's Office, businesses and landowners to develop a plan for the future of the West Oxford Street precinct, as part of a strategic approach to planning for the neighbourhood.
A summary report has been prepared which brings together all of the ideas developed by the three design teams. It outlines over 50 ideas for the future of the area, which have been pulled together into broad themes of traffic, public domain, art, culture and heritage, and built form. The full list of ideas can be viewed in the information leaflet or on pages 36 to 49 of the summary report.
It is important to remember that this report is a collection of ideas and suggested opportunities for the area only. The next steps will be to test those ideas the community and Council believe are appropriate for the area and see if they are feasible. We know that there is a lot of work to be done if these ideas are to be realised and funded, and delivery of any feasible ideas might occur over a long period of time.

Next steps
Following the public exhibition period, all of the feedback and comments submitted will be collated and we will look at what ideas in the report should be considered for further testing and which ideas should be abandoned. A revised report will then be considered by Council in late 2014 or early 2015 for adoption.
We will continue to keep the community informed of upcoming opportunities to provide input to the project. If you would like to receive updates about the project and have not yet provided your email address to Council, please email engagement@waverley.nsw.gov.au
