Council is calling for community feedback on the shortlisted designs for a new public artwork to be located on the wall overlooking the kids pool at North Bondi.

In the late 1980s, several local artists installed a community-made mosaic artwork on the western face of the stormwater culvert overlooking the kids pool at North Bondi. By 2018, large sections of the mosaic were beginning to fail due to underlying concrete cancer in the culvert wall. Council examined many avenues to retain the beloved mosaic, however, due to concrete cancer it had come to the end of its natural life. The North Bondi culvert was rebuilt over the winter of 2019 and a temporary mural artwork was commissioned on the wall. Council then sought Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified artists, designers or architects to create a new permanent public artwork on the wall overlooking the Wally Weekes kids pool at North Bondi.
