Waverley Council is planning some necessary upgrade works to the much loved Thomas Hogan Reserve central clearing and community hall landscape.

From September – November 2017, we collected feedback from the community on the Concept Design of Thomas Hogan Reserve – Stage 2. It was a wonderful process. We had the opportunity to discuss the plan in detail face to face with the community at our Have Your Say Days, onsite design walk throughs and we also received a number of responses through our survey on haveyoursaysaverley.com and via email and phone.

The Updated Concept Design

The updated Concept Design for Stage 2 of Thomas Hogan Reserve works is based on the Plan of Management 2011-2021 and community feedback. The Stage 2 works will continue from the Stage 1 works completed in 2016.

These include:

  • New universal access pathway connection from paved Francis St entry to base of Martin’s Avenue stairs and seats in Central lawn.
  • New equal access path to the community hall
  • New decking area to community hall, providing level universal access to main entry and side entry (kitchen)
  • Addressing flooding issue around the Community Hall
  • Improve lawn area in front of Community Hall
  • Improve light and growing conditions for the historic fig and lawn areas

Council will also engage a qualified professional to develop an Ecological Restoration Action Plan for Thomas Hogan Reserve, as per the 12 December 2017 Council motion:

Proceeds with the development of a staged Ecological Restoration Action Plan for Thomas Hogan Reserve, which is cognisant of the heritage status of the reserve, to be presented to Council for adoption.
