Background

Council has embarked on an important strategic planning project that will shape the future of Waverley.

The overall review has been staged over four years, between July 2018 - December 2022 and has had a number of opportunities for the community to provide feedback along the way.

In addition to the WLSPS, a number of other strategies were prepared by Council to inform the review, including:

These strategies were on public exhibition from 25 March - 10 May 2020.

The proposal

What is changing between the 2012 and the proposed 2022 LEP?

The proposed Waverley LEP 2022 provides minor updates to the 2012 LEP. The majority of the strategies and studies undertaken to inform the new LEP found that the existing already implements many of the requirements of the Greater Sydney Region Plan. Therefore the Waverley LEP does not need widespread planning change to meet the desired future vision. In fact, many of the proposed changes aim to provide greater protections for the existing character of the area. Most properties across Waverley will not be noticeably impacted. The existing maximum building height and floor space ratio controls for all properties will remain the same, and only some information on the Land Reservation Acquisition, Land Use Zone and Active Street Frontages maps is proposed to change.

How do I find out if my property is affected?

To find out if your property is subject to any mapping changes, for example, a new land use zone, an active street frontage, or a land acquisition, please refer to Council’s online mapping tool, Discover or the document library.

How does the new LEP relate to other NSW Government reforms?

As part of this project, Council is required to ‘give effect’ to the Greater Sydney Region Plan (the Region Plan) and the Eastern City District Plan (the District Plan) that have been prepared by the Greater Sydney Commission.
